Voters Meeting

Trinity’s Voters will meet on Sunday, September 22, at 12:30 pm (directly following the 11:00 worship service) in the Sanctuary.  We will discuss the calling of a Campus Family and Youth Pastor.  We visualize this Associate Pastor primarily ministering to the families who are on our campus throughout the week.  This is a special voters meeting that is only concerned with this single issue.  Please join us!

 

Target Gives Back

TLS received $1,485.10 from Target! Thank you to all the families who have designated Trinity Lutheran School on their Target Red Card accounts!

 

Trinity’s Sunday School and Bible Classes start a new year 

Ages 4 years old through 12th grade

Jesus connects children to Himself and to others through a Bible story, songs, and activities each week.  Our Middle School and High School programs offer Sunday Morning Bible study, confirmation studies, and youth activities for fun and fellowship.

 

Substitute Teachers Needed

The K-8 classes are looking to add more teachers to our substitute list.  Candidates must have a college degree (minimum of an AA/AS) to apply. If you are interested, or know someone who might be, please contact Cathy Fuller at cfuller@trinitydowntown.org to apply.  

 

Food on the Fifth

Whenever a month has 5 Sundays, we celebrate the opportunity to share our blessings by bringing canned or boxed food to church.  The last weekend in September is a 5th Sunday, so the Publix grocery cart will be in the narthex waiting for your donations.  This 5th Sunday, The Community Food and Outreach Center of Orlando will benefit from our generosity.  Fill the cart with your bogo items!  Flip top or easy tab cans are most appreciated.

Hungry? - "Taste of His Word"

Come join us for a taste of His Word on Tuesday, the 10th of September, at 7 p.m. at the Havens’ home, 13731 Dornoch Drive, Orlando, 32828.  We are using a CPH study entitled “Overview of the Bible” and this week we will be looking at “The Last Judge and the First Three Kings of Israel” found in 1 & 2 Samuel and 1 Kings.  This study is held the second and fourth Tuesday of each month by the Havens and Ramiz families.  Any questions, please contact Eric Havens at 321-368-6336. MS & HS Youth Group Fundraiser

Trinity's Middle and High School Youth Groups will be participating in the White Elephant-Craft Sale at Zion Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 14, 2013.  The students are raising money for various Youth Group activities and events.  If you would like to contribute items for the sale, or are interested in attending the event, please contact Lori Zavitz at 407-718-6184 for more information.

 

Supper & Speaker - a Wedding Celebration of Fun

eating the wedding feast 92013Last Thursday evening the women of Trinity spent the evening playing wedding shower games and eating wedding cake (oh, and other delicious wedding feast foods!).  All the gifts we brought benefit the new Redeeming Life Maternity Home due to open in Sanford in November.  What a great night for all!

 

 

Confirmation Classes--Grades 6-8

Please join Pastor and Lisa Moore for a Confirmation Meeting on Sunday, September 15th in the Sanctuary after the 11am worship service (parents and students (grades 6-8)).  You should have received a letter in the mail if you have a child in this age range.   If you didn’t, please contact the office and we’ll get one to you 407-488-1919 x101 or tlc@trinitydowntown.org.  Final schedule of Sunday meetings will be determined at that meeting on the 15th.  More details to follow!

 

Air Purifiers Needed!

There are several places on campus in offices and in the church basement where the school library is, where air purifiers are needed.  Anyone interested in donating one, please contact lmoore@trinitydowntown.org  Thank you!!

 

IF YOU ARE NOT ATTENDING THE LWML Women’s RETREAT......LAST CALL!!

Three women from Trinity are heading to Norcross Georgia for the Florida-Georgia District LWML retreat.  We are happy to fill our cars with the items needed by Family Promise of Gwinnett County Georgia as “gifts of love”.  Family Promise helps homeless families stay together by providing shelter, hospitality, and case management services. Please donate one of the following items for the love gathering.  Bring them to the church narthex “LWML” collection basket and Deaconess Liz will transport them to the retreat for you:  Laundry detergent, stain remover, softener (liquid or sheets), sponges, long handled brush, spray starch, iron board, goo-gone, WD-40, plastic laundry basket - any other basic kitchen needs, general household consumables, or paper supplies.  DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER 22.  Contact Deaconess Liz for more details: 407-488-1919 X 127 eborth@trinitydowntown.com

 

Craft Sale Booths

Zion New Life Lutheran Church in Winter Garden (corner of Avalon Rd/Marsh Rd.) is having a White Elephant and Craft Sale on Saturday, September 14, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  If any members of your congregations would like to sell their homemade crafts, or other items they may reserve a spot now for the upcoming White Elephant and Craft Sale.  The cost to reserve a spot is $25.00.

Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day 2013Over 200 Grandparents attended our event!   They attended chapel, visited their grandchild’s classroom, enjoyed a wonderful brunch, and heard several songs performed by our VPK through 3rd grade students.  Thank you PTL for sponsoring this event and to all of the volunteers who helped to make this staff such a success!

Parent Teacher League (PTL)

The PTL General Meeting will be held on September 26th at 6:00pm.  All parents are invited and encouraged to attend.  This is a great opportunity to learn more about what our PTL does and what parents can do to get involved!  We would love to see you there to share our plans for the new year and what we accomplished with last year events.

 * Coming Soon:  Touch-A-Truck, Saturday, November 23rd. We are working on the planning stage of this event. Extended-Care News

Trinity Extended Care will be offering a 3 day mini-camp during the days that school is off while the elementary and middle school teachers attend the Florida-Georgia Educators’ Conference, Wednesday through Friday, September 18-20th (next week).    Our mini-camps provide a variety of fun and educational activities for your child, as well as one or two field trips.  Breakfast is not served on camp days, but Mr. Poole’s home cooked lunches are available. Sign-up sheets will be on the counter in the school office on Monday morning where you may indicate which of the days you would like to have your child attend.  If you are paying by the month, these camp days are included in your fees.  Drop in rates are $40 per day.

 

Trinity Spirit Night at Tijuana Flats

We are having our first Spirit Night of the year on Wednesday, September 25th from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the Tijuana Flats on Summerlin.  Make sure to mention you are with Trinity and feel free to invite friends, family, and coworkers!

 

Stamps Needed!

Race for Education Donation letters are going to be written (or drawn on by the little ones) by students next week.  After the letters are finished we will be mailing them out but need your help!  Anyone who donates a book of 20 stamps will be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift card to Target/  We appreciate your help in making this fundraiser a huge success!  Please send stamps to the front office by September 23rd to get entered into the drawing.  Thank you!

 

Lunch Monitor Volunteers

We are currently looking for volunteers to help monitor students lunches for our K-1st grade lunch shift (11:15-11:45), 2nd - 5th grade shift (11:50-12:20) and middle school shift (12:25 - 12:55).  If you are interested in helping out at any of these shifts please contact the front office and let us know your availability.  Thank you for helping give our teachers a break!

Sports Physicals Reminder

Please remember if your child is going to participate in after school athletics we must have a current physical on file.  If you do not have one on file your child will not be able to participate until so.  Please contact Coach T with any questions.
