LCMS Florida/Georgia Middle School Youth Gathering

November 1-3 – Lake Yale Baptist Convention Center, Leesburg, FL

Who can register?

The Gathering specifically targets middle school youth.  To register, a youth must be in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade during the 2013-2014 school year.  Non-LCMS youth are certainly welcome to attend also!

 What is a Junior Guide?

A junior guide is a high school youth who shows leadership skills and would be a tremendous asset to any youth director taking his/her youth group. Two junior guides are allowed for each church.  They will be given specific responsibilities and opportunities for leadership training.

 Adult/Participant Ratio

For safety we require that each church provide 1 adult leader for every 6 attendees under the age of 18.

 The registration cost is $140.

The price covers all program and administrative costs, two nights lodging, four meals, and a t-shirt for each participant.

Redeeming Life Outreach Ministries Maternity Home Grand Opening

Save the Date/Upcoming:  NOVEMBER 9.  The Redeeming Life Outreach Ministries Maternity Home will have a Grand Opening celebration on Saturday, November 9 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.   This is for all the churches in the area who will be or have been actively participating in the support of this most needed ministry. Don’t miss it.

Food on the Fifth

Whenever a month has 5 Sundays, we celebrate the opportunity to share our blessings by bringing canned or boxed food to church.  This coming weekend is one with a FIFTH Sunday, so the Publix grocery cart will be in the narthex waiting for your donations. The Community Food and Outreach Center of Orlando will benefit from our generosity.  Fill the cart with your bogo items!  Particularly since this center assists so many homeless people, flip top or easy tab cans are most appreciated.

Strength for the Journey  – TIME IS RUNNING OUT TO REGISTER

Strength for the Journey is open to women of all ages and stages of life.  The October 11-13, 2013 weekend in Oviedo Florida is designed for women facing a difficult time in life. Whether your role is patient, caretaker, retiree, multi-tasking working mom, single career woman, family homemaker, or widow, you can use a weekend away. This time of renewal and sharing is led by women who have experience leading retreats, teaching, counseling and facing their own life challenges.  It is our hope that each person will become increasingly connected with our deeply loving God.  The retreat will include large group presentations on various topics as well as contemplative exercises, times of singing and small group sharing.  Please provide Julia Malenke with your name, email, address, phone number and $199.00 by September 30.  Her email is: juliamalenke@hotmail.com.

Blanket Making Party

Fellowship Hall –  next Thursday, October 3rd, 6:15 to 9:00…let the blanket making begin!

The CDC needs 20 baby blankets by the end of the year.  The purpose is to give each new baby a blanket.    We have made several, but still need more.   Some people are doing crochet or knitting…those of us with less ability, time and/or energy are making fleece tie blankets.  No sewing involved.  On the job training.  You can make one in about an hour. You will need 2 pieces of “fleece” and a good pair of sharp scissors.    Each piece of fabric needs to be 36 x 36.  Hobby Lobby and JoAnn Fabric have an excellent selection of baby prints….and there is usually a coupon in the paper, or on your smart phone.  If you are interested in helping please email to me if you are interested in helping and spending some time together. Luther’s Morning Prayer

I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
