Festival of Trees

The Festival of Trees is an annual event sponsored by the Orlando Museum of Art Council of 101.  This is a well attended social event that kicks off Christmas festivities.  The festival runs from November 16 until November 24 and the display of trees is amazing!  The Roby Law Firm makes certain at least one of the trees in the display clearly demonstrates Christ as the “reason for the season”.  This year, Trinity will assist in decorating the Roby Law Firm sponsored tree with nativity stars, sparkling lights, and the colors of royal jewels. If you are interested in participating with decorating ornaments or the tree, please contact Deaconess Liz at 407-488-1919 x127 or eborth@trinitydowntown.org

SUNDAY SCHOOL:  RALLY DAY kicks off a new year of Sunday School, September 8th! Children 4 years old through High School are invited to the gym to meet their teachers. There will be a short parent informational meeting at 9:30 (yes, they will sing at the 9:30 service until you get back there for church!)  Fun, games and activities for all!

SUPPER & SPEAKER Ladies of Trinity Church AND SCHOOL are most welcome and encouraged to participate in the quarterly Supper & Speaker events.   Thursday, SEPTEMBER 5 is the night and the theme is “wedding”.  Bring a food you associate with weddings or a wonderful summer salad to share.  A traditional wedding cake and all beverages will be supplied, as well as utensils.  The Fellowship Hall will be festive waiting for your arrival at 6:30 p.m.  We will shower Redeeming Life Maternity Home with items to supply the kitchen and bathrooms at the brand new facility in Sanford.  This will be super fun!!    Direct questions to Deaconess Liz: 407-488-1919 X 127.  Child care is available ONLY IF YOU CALL AHEAD.

IF YOU ARE NOT ATTENDING THE LWML Women’s RETREAT……

Two (maybe three) women from Trinity are heading to Norcross Georgia for the Florida-Georgia District LWML retreat.  We are happy to fill our cars with the items needed by Family Promise of Gwinnett County Georgia as “gifts of love”.  Family Promise helps homeless families stay together by providing shelter, hospitality, and case management services. Please donate one of the following items for the love gathering.  Bring them to the church narthex “LWML” collection basket and Deaconess Liz will transport them to the retreat for you:  Laundry detergent, stain remover, softener (liquid or sheets), sponges, long handled brush, spray starch, iron board, goo-gone, WD-40, plastic laundry basket – any other basic kitchen needs, general household consumables, or paper supplies.

BUNCO!!:  What is it?  A mindless and fun game that allows opportunity for fellowship and laughter.  We share food along with our fun and even throw in some prizes to add to the stress relief.  Come and join the Trinity women and friends who rock and roll every month.  Next event is THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 12.  We meet in the Magnolia Building (427 N. Magnolia) 2nd floor at 6:30 to eat; games begin at 7:00 p.m.  Call or email Deaconess Liz for details: 407-488-1919 X 127 eborth@trinitydowntown.com

Now Enrolling:  Trinity Lutheran School is now enrolling in Grades K-8th for the 2013-2014 school year.  We have several exciting changes in the upcoming year.  We will be conducting home visits, practicing Student Led conferences, and our middle school students will each have their own laptop and tablet!  If you are interested in a tour, enrolling or know someone who may be interested in TLS, contact the school office or email admissions@trinitydowntown.org.
