Trinity Family

From Pastor Martin

What a week!  I’ve been saying that a lot lately.  Seeing Pastor Billy Brath in action lastSunday was a great start and hearing our own Tyler Killinger tell us about his role as President of LiveUCF, and celebrating the 498th anniversary of the Reformation!  And,  knowing that 5 young people at Trinity have started receiving the Lord’s Supper:  Taylor B., Evan H., Ashley R., Brandon Y., and Jason Z..  (Don’t worry Jason, someday “the last shall be first.”)

This weekend (don’t forget this is TIME CHANGE WEEKEND: SET YOUR CLOCKS BACK!) we’ll be celebrating All Saints Weekend in two ways: 1) Consecrating the stained glass window donated in memory of Pastor Ron Fink in all services.  God-willing, his widow, Millie will be with us.  She’s looking forward to seeing all of you!  2) Reading the names of our members who died during the past year, and inviting everyone to mention the names of other loved ones who went to be with the Lord since last All Saints Day.

Yes, we are gathering for worship on Saturday, October 31st at 6pm even if some of you are “busy” that night — what a great witness – we gather on All Hallows Eve to remember all God’s “saints” who are now with Jesus in glory!  And, yes it’s National Youth Gathering Sign-Up Weekend…and Carol and I are excited about hosting our HighSchool Youth Costume Party at our house Sunday night.  And… we are privileged to pray a blessing in 11am worship over our Middle School Youth who are going to FL/GA Gathering next weekend.

What A Week: Part 2  Monday evening about 35-40 Ministry Team volunteers gathered around one of Chef Rich Poole’s culinary delights, and shared what we’ve accomplished in ministry the past few months and what we’re planning the next few months. That will require a separate article next week.  (Hint… Thanksgiving meal for 100 Homeless, Dedication Week Jan 23 to Jan 31)

I’d wear you out telling you about Ministry Planning on Tuesday, a Visit from Martin Luther in Chapel on Wednesday, Sr Pastor Call Committee meeting Wednesday evening, and the Costume Parade at school on Friday, and reporting on last week’s Fall Festival, Calle Orange, and Pumpkin Patch.  Watch for those reports elsewhere.

Coming up very soon we have the opportunity to support four great events:  (more info in separate articles)

  •         LHM Regional Outreach Conference – November 13-14
  •         The Redeeming Life Gala – Saturday, November 14
  •         The LiveUCF Gala – Saturday, November 14
  •         Lutheran Hour Speaker Rev. Greg Seltz at Trinity, 11am November 15

You can see why our worship theme for November will be “THE ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE!”  We are Growing Together…to Shine Brighter!

Trinity Shares Christmas — The Tree is Up!

This will be our eighth year of sharing Christmas.  We will partner once again with Angel Tree Ministries to help incarcerated parents give Christmas presents to their children and food to the children’s caregivers.  The children of the families we will serve this year range in age from one to 16 years; the release dates for the parents range from 2016 to 2052. The goal of this project is to help the families build and maintain a relationship as we share the Christmas message and gifts with the children and their caretakers.

Each angel ornament will contain a gift, food, or donation request.  Please take one or more ornaments and return the requested item with the ornament by November 29. Please do not wrap the present and do not use the adhesive side of the ornament to attach it to the present.

We have several very short-term volunteer opportunities to help make this program a success.  If you would like to help, or if you have any questions about Trinity Shares Christmas, please contact Glenda Frazier at whitemice@bellsouth.net.
