Your Weekly News & Updates

Oktoberfest is almost here!  Let's celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation!  How's your Martin Luther Trivia?

Parking and Traffic This Weekend
The annual Calle Orange Festival is this Sunday, which means 10 blocks of Magnolia Ave will be closed off and access to Livingston Street and Amelia St. will be blocked if you're coming in from West of Trinity. You will have to approach Trinity's campus from East to West on Livingston to access the parking lot entrance at the Livingston Parking lot - from there you can access all of our internal parking lots. Street parking will likely be sparse, so please plan to allow for extra time to find parking.

We Love our Pastors!
It's Pastor Appreciation Month -- when we show our love and appreciation for our Trinity pastors; Pastor Kallesen, Pastor Glander and Pastor Schaefer.  Keep in mind we have two ministers in our congregation as well: Rev. Jean Claude Picard and Rev. Steve Schroeder. And we have some amazing pastors in our recent history as well: Pastor Zehnder and Pastor Martin! Our District Pres, Rev. Walton, and even our Circuit Pastor, Rev. Green.  Show your love for pastors you're connected to and let them know how much we all appreciate their commitment to God's call on their lives.

It takes a team!
Pastor Doug has been here for three weeks now and he's been meeting members, leaders, and guests... sitting in on meetings and getting to know the Trinity family and all about the many ministries of Trinity. He's been able to see first hand that Trinity has some FANTASTIC ongoing ministry initiatives, and that there is an AMAZING TEAM that makes it all happen - this AMAZING Trinity Family -  serving wholeheartedly with their gifts and passions in all areas -- visible and unseen, big and small, upfront and behind the scenes -- all necessary, all important.  God calls us all to serve and witness, and what a privilege it is to have such a dynamic and active church family with which to carry out God's plan for our community!  Here's a recent shot of just one piece of this AMAZING TRINITY TEAM-- Pastor Kallesen with the Elders as they wrapped up a recent meeting!  THANKS for all you do!

We need YOU:  Supporting New Trinity members - Connection Points
We'd like YOU to consider being a Trinity Connection Point for a new member who is now going through the Foundations class. A Connection Point is a member who is well connected in multiple areas of Trinity ministry, who will serve as a resource and "point of connection" for a new member just completing the Foundations class. You check in regularly with your assigned new member, pray for them, maybe worship with them from time to time, answer any questions they may have, maybe meet them for coffee once a month for a few months -- getting to know them and then sharing information on upcoming events and opportunities where they might be able to GET CONNECTED at Trinity. If you'd like to serve in this way, please contact Chanda at [email protected] or 407-488-1919 x101.

Law Enforcement or Military?
The Comfort Dog Ministry team is looking for an active or retired member of the military, AND an active or retired member of Orlando's police or sheriff's department to round out our team. If you are interested, please contact Eric or Wendy Havens at [email protected]

Prayer Partners for our Confirmands
Jr. and Sr. Confirmation classes have begun for our youth. We meet two or three Sundays a month for lunch, class time and fellowship time. Deana Norris and Jenn Blackwood are co-teaching Jr class and Tim Norris is teaching the Sr class. There are 17 youth in these two combined classes. Praise God!  We would love to show our kids that their Trinity family loves them and is invested in them by connecting them with a Prayer Partner. A Confirmation Prayer Partner is someone who is an active member at Trinity and will pray daily for a student. You would send a note of prayer and encouragement from time to time and just get to know him/her. We will join together for lunch once or twice this year and of course look forward to First Communion and Confirmation. Please contact Jenn Blackwood at  [email protected].

Lunch Host
We also are looking for someone who would like to host lunch for the group in Fellowship Hall.   Please contact Jenn Blackwood at  [email protected] if you would like to be involved.

Fifth Sunday Collection
The month of October has 5 Sundays so we will be collecting food and funds this month.  Dry/canned food collections will take place in school offices throughout the month and in church on October 29th. Financial donations to the Pastor's Discretionary Fund to help those in need can be made during worship services or dropped off at the office (please write Pastor's discretionary Fund on the memo line of your check or on your offering envelope please). The collection will be donated to the Prince of Peace Food Pantry and will benefit our local community.  Start making those BOGO purchases!

Free Concerts at Broadway Methodist Church
"Word on Broadway"  is a series of free concerts open to the public. Following each performance, a free will offering will be taken and all proceeds will be donated to a local charitable organization. All performances are on Sunday afternoon at Broadway UMC, corner of Broadway and Amelia, beginning at 4 p.m. and lasting approximately one hour.   Next: Sunday, November 12th at 4:00pm "Gleaning Florida's Fields - Feeding Florida's Hungry" Rollins College Choirs & Soloists Sing of Feed for the Society of St. Andrew.

Local Gideon Report
Last week local Gideons distributed over 300 scriptures to students at Winter Park Ninth Grade Center and Glenridge Middle School.  Our next prison distribution is on November 18 th .  Keep us and those we meet in your prayers! Thank you!

PTL Volunteer Opportunities
Whether you are a staff member, parent, or church member, PTL has plenty of opportunities for you to get involved in our ministry.  PTL events like our annual Fall Pumpkin Patch and Touch-A-Truck connect our school, church, and surrounding community.  These events not only raise funds to support our school, but they draw big crowds from the surrounding community to our church!  We need your help to make them happen!  If you have any questions regarding PTL volunteer opportunities or simply need information for an upcoming event, you may e-mail the PTL at [email protected].

Brass Group at Trinity!
Time to dust off those musical instruments tucked away in the closet that you haven't played for a while or just tune up if you've been playing all along. We are re-organizing and expanding a brass group to play at Trinity for special services. It will not take a huge commitment of your time and you do not have to be a expert. You just need the desire to share your gift of music. We are also looking for anyone able to play kettledrums. (Timpani) Please contact Matthew Schroeder or Eva Newshutz for more information. 321-303-7824 or [email protected]

Basketball Coaches Needed
Trinity K-8 is still looking for individuals that are willing to coach basketball for: 1-2 grade, 3-4 grade, 5-6 boys, 5-6 girls, and 7-8 boys.  If you think you might be interested and would like more details please email
