A Message from Chanda Gillenwater
Trinity Family, I wanted to let you all konw that on Thursday, October 7, I met with Congregation President, Tom Finger, and Pastor Doug and tendered my resignation giving two weeks’ notice with Trinity. My last day in the office will be this coming Thursday, October, 21.

I have accepted a phenomenal job offer with a Clinical Research company working toward new treatments for illnesses such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease serving as their Psychometric Rater – essentially that means I’ll be doing the neurological-psychological testing for patients who are applying for and participating in the clinical trials. This takes me full circle, putting my M.S. degree in Clinical Psychology back to use, as I was before I began serving with Trinity nearly 16 years ago.

It has been an amazing journey to serve in ministry with Trinity. I’ve met and served with some absolutely amazing pastors, the very best Deaconess ever, beautifully talented musicians, dedicated staff and lay leaders, and I have made such wonderful connections and friendships within our staff and Trinity family. What a blessing! God’s purpose and planning was woven into each and every step, and I am grateful for the experience.

With our new Admin Assistant in place, God has provided once again, that Trinity’s church office management needs will be met. Katherine is doing exceptionally well in her new role and is soon able to add 8 additional hours per week bringing her to a full time 4-day a week role – which is a blessing to her. She has been a delightful addition to the team and will be able to manage the church office needs very well. Those things she’s not able to cover, in areas of Ministry Development/Coordination & Communications will be addressed by Leadership or will simply fall to the wayside until Trinity is blessed with a new church ministry team staff member or Called church worker.

I pray God will continue to bless Trinity's ministries and each of you! I pray that the Holy Spirit will inspire and direct the steps of all Trinity’s people, as you become equipped and strengthened by Trinity’s ministries, to move steadily forward with great integrity, intent and purpose, reaching others with the gospel and bringing people one step closer to Jesus.

In The Love of Christ, Chanda Gillenwater
Worship Bulletins
Back by request, weekly bulletins are now available in the narthex with service information as well as the weekly prayer list. Please feel free to take one home and pray for the concerns on the back cover. We are experimenting with exactly how many to print each week, so please be patient with us as we figure this out over the coming weeks!
Campus Work Day
Many hands make light(er) work! Join your Trinity Family in a "good stewards service project" caring for our campus on Saturday, October 23 from 8am to 12pm - or any span of time in between. We'll do some plant trimming, weeding, window cleaning, and landscaping bed refreshments. If you have favorite tools from home you can bring to use - fantastic. We will provide trash bags and things like shovels and rakes. Questions? Contact Ted at Lange5fla@hotmail.com.
Make A MORE Joyful Noise! Reformation 2021
Please join the Parish Choir and help us Make A More Joyful Noise! on Reformation Sunday, October 31 during the 10:00am service. All are welcomed! Every voice can make a joyful noise unto the Lord. Even YOU! We will rehearse the music on Wednesday, October 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the balcony. If you can’t make Wednesday’s rehearsal, you can come Sunday morning at 9:30a.m. to rehearse prior to the service. All rehearsals will be in the balcony.

Reformation was, first and foremost, all about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was then, and it still is now. The task of reformation never ends – for every person, in every generation, needs to hear the good news of their Savior from sin and eternal death. There’s no better way to share this message then through song.

Come Make A More Joyful Noise! with us! Questions? Please email or talk to Paul Soost (sooster67@yahoo.com).
OWLS Luncheon Fellowship
If you consider yourself an "older and wiser" Lutheran, this event is for you! Join us for a luncheon on Friday, October 29 at Linda S's house. This is an amazing opportunity to eat good food, fellowship with others, and share your wisdom. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, October 27. Please contact Audrey at to sign up or for more information.
Reformation Sunday Plans! WEAR RED
On Sunday, October 31, we will have one Sunday worship service at 10am to Celebrate the 504th anniversary of the Reformation. (6pm worship will meet as scheduled). Following worship together, our Trinity Elders will host an Elder BBQ making time for fellowship among our membership, CDC families, and guests of Trinity. Meet and greet the Elders and learn more about how they serve Church - you'll find them wearing name tags so you can pick them out of the crowd! If you have a favorite dessert recipe, please bring a dessert to share!

Prepare you best cake recipe and enter to win a prize at the Elder BBQ Cake Bake-Off. Entry fee is $3 and will go to the Pastor's Discretionary Fund. Sign up in the Narthex this weekend or email Terry at mammierocks@yahoo.com. Winners of the bake-off will receive major Trinity bragging rights, as well as a ribbon and a prize. Guests judges will rate cakes, and then leftovers will go to BBQ guests to share/taste. Deadline to enter is October 24. Entry fee due on Oct 31 when cake is dropped of before 10am in Fellowship Hall. GOOD LUCK! (Who knows! You might get extra credit for a Reformation theme cake!)
Operation Christmas Child
Trinity is Participating in Operation Christmas Child! The amazing journey of a shoebox begins with you… Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization, with a mission to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. These shoe boxes filled with simple gifts and are shipped to children around the world affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.

Trinity Downtown is collecting donations of shoe box items now through Sunday October 31st for our shoebox packing party, which will be held during the Elder BBQ. We also have free shoe boxes that you can take home to pack. Trinity Downtown will accept packed shoeboxes until Nov. 6th, or you can drop shoeboxes off at an official drop-off location during National Collections Week (Nov. 15-22). Information about drop-off locations and suggested gift items are available online at Operation Christmas Child | Shoebox Outreach of Samaritan’s Purse (samaritanspurse.org). Contact Trinity church member Lynn Hogan, OCC Project Leader at lynnhogan@earthlink.net if you have any questions or are interested in volunteering for the packing party.
IMPACKS
"Impacks" (ie: backpacks making an impact) is a project putting together backpacks with a few personal items for children who are living in transition between foster homes or homeless shelter living. It ensures that each child has something of his/her very own to hold what little belongings he/she may have to carry from location to location. On any night there can be over 100 children sleeping at the Coalition for Homeless alone. It changes nightly. We have been told several times that our backpacks and gifts would be the only items these children would receive for Christmas.

This project is the creation of and organized by Ashely Marshall of our CDC family. The CDC family of Trinity has been participating in IMPACKS for a several years now, and we're jumping on board to support this very real need in our community, to send a little extra love to children in need. Our church family goal this first year is to provide and fill 30 backpacks for Elementary age children. The backpacks will be delivered in December so these children will have something for Christmas. The deadline to bring completed backpacks to the Narthex will be 11/30/2021, but feel free to start bringing them in any time after October 21, 2021.

OUR Church Family BACKPACK GOAL: 30 (or more) Elementary Age appropriate size/theme Backpacks with a pack each of appropriate size socks and underwear, a toothbrush and toothpaste, and one toy for an elem school age child. If you'd like to participate, please email TLC@TrinityDowntown.com - you can donate one backpack with all the items included, or if you would like to donate money, Chanda will do the shopping for you (est. $30 for a backpack and items). Each backpack also calls for one book per backpack, and someone has already offered to purchase an age appropiate Children's Lutheran prayer book and Bible for each backpack donated by our church family! So don't worry about the book. Thank you!
Food and Funds on the Fifth Sunday
As always, on any fifth Sunday of a month, we'll be collecting food donations for a local food pantry (dry and canned goods only, not expired) and funds for the Pastor's discretionary fund assisting those dealing with immediate financial emergencies. Bring in those dollars and BOGOs on Reformation weekend! Thank you.
Downtown Orlando Pumpkin Patch
It's back! The Child Development Center's PTL is moving forward their biggest annual fundraiser, our Pumpkin Patch! The PTL will set up those fantastic photo-op areas and we'll have lots of pumpkins and gourds of all shapes, sizes, and prices. This is agreat opportunity for fundraising for our CDC, as well as for welcoming local guests onto our campus to see our Church and CDC and meet some of our Trinity family in a very casual environment.
