Support Life

Once again the world mixes a toxic cocktail and says it is good.  A 29 year old woman with terminal brain cancer chose to end her life “with dignity”.  She murdered herself.  We teach against destroying human life: “Thou shalt not kill”.  Simple.  Every day, doctors  in clean and sterile clinics destroy human life with the consent of the woman carrying a tiny infant.  Whether the beginning of life, or the end of life, or an inconvenient life, death is not a choice for a human being to make.  Redeeming Life Maternity Home offers a safe, loving, and Christ centered place for women who choose life, but have no one to share in that important decision.  Please purchase a $35.00 ticket to the 1st annual dinner for Redeeming Life  at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Sanford.  Whether you attend the function on Friday evening, November 14, 2014 or not, your $35.00 donation will support the ministry.  Deaconess Liz has only heard loving encouragement and support from six - yes that is 6 - people out of the 300 who passed her by.  Call TODAY - 407-488-1919 X 127 or eborth@trinitydowntown.org.

4 Weeks of Lutheran study!

Our mini-Luther sermon series! Bible classes and Sunday School classes!

November Sunday School Offerings

We join with the church and school in the Canned Food, non-perishables, offering - please check expiration dates!!  We will be building our own wall of food in the church basement!

Veterans Day Chapel

We will be celebrating Veterans Day with a special chapel service on Tuesday, November 11th at 8:30am.  (There will not be chapel on Wednesday of this week). We invite you to come and enjoy this special service as we thank our Veterans for their service and bravery.

Trinity’s Family Thanksgiving Meal

This meal takes on added significance this year as we celebrate 10 years of hosting our Vietnamese brothers and sisters!  They will be joining us for our single service at 10 am on Sunday, November 23, Christ the King Sunday, and for the meal following, so bring your appetite for their delicious spring rolls, along with your own dishes—A-L bring a warm side dish, M-Z bring a cold side.  As usual, Chef Rich will prepare Turkey, Ham, Mashed potatoes, Peas, Gravy, stuffing and desserts.  Rich will need some help in the kitchen and is seeking volunteer pie cutters, table dressers, food preppers and dish washers!  If you’re able to help from 4am-3pm (or maybe just a couple of hours in there somewhere), please email rpoole@TrinityDowntown.com.  The worship service will be in the Sanctuary—come early to get your “usual” pew, and be sure to welcome & introduce yourself to anyone you don’t recognize!

Thanksgiving Bread

Every year Trinity members volunteer their time to bake a kitchen full of mini bread loaves to be placed on the altar, blessed and given away.  Trinity families receive a loaf during the Thanksgiving Eve and Thanksgiving Day worship services, and many other loaves are taken to a local shelter to share with others.  We need volunteers to bake and bag the loaves on 11/26 and a volunteer who attends Thanksgiving Day worship on 11/27 to take the remaining loaves to a local shelter.  Please contact Chanda if you can fill either of these volunteer roles. Thank you!  TLC@TrinityDowntown.org or 407-488-1919 x101.

Preparing for Christmas

Last Christmas we said farewell to our faithful Sanctuary Christmas Trees after twelve seasons, and asked for donations to purchase new trees for this Christmas.  Many of you responded, and we raised $2,570.  Thank you!  That’s only $650 short of what we paid for two beautiful new trees that were delivered in September, so we’d like to invite you to contribute to finish paying for the trees plus another $350 to refresh our other Christmas decorations.  If you’d like to help, just mark an offering envelope “Christmas Decorations” and put it in the plate or mail it to the church office.  Thanks, Pastor Moore.

Poinsettias for Christmas

Yes, it’s that time of year again!  The flowers that make Trinity especially beautiful during the Christmas celebrations are provided by members of our Trinity family who wish to remember loved ones, or simply express special thanks to God. The names of contributors and people remembered will be published in the January Worship Notes following the holidays. (Suggested donations for poinsettias are $12.00 each) Order forms are available in the narthex.

Trinity Shares Christmas

The Christmas tree went up last week.  This year, the organizing team made  sure that there were ornaments on the tree at every service.  The enthusiasm and love of the faithful and regular worship service attendees for our annual Christmas giving is incredible!   This is the 7th year Trinity has shared the Christmas Gospel with children and the 4th year we partner with Angel Tree Ministries to help incarcerated parents provide Christmas gifts to their children and food to the children’s caregivers. Remember to return the requested item (unwrapped, please) with the ornament by November 30.

Trinity Shares Christmas - part 2

This year we are assigned 20 children in our neighborhood and have an opportunity to reach beyond our city limits. Before we take a leap of faith and lead more children to the manger, we  need commitment for several very short-term volunteer opportunities.  Making follow up phone calls to the caregiver to arrange delivery,  or if you can drive and deliver gifts and groceries to one or two families will help make this program a complete success.  The best volunteers are those who offered new ideas to help, so if that is you, or if you have any questions about Trinity Shares Christmas, please contact Glenda Frazier at whitemice@bellsouth.net.

Set Your Alarm for Noon (or any hour)

Time to pray for our school and the 300 children who fill the buildings 50 hours a week.  Why did  Jesus’ disciples ask for help with prayer? Because they saw a difference between their ritual prayers and the relationship-building conversation Jesus had with God our Father.  Let’s turn our focus from “me” to “We” and pray for our school.  Each day set aside one minute to stop and prayer for safety, health, and peace for our children and teachers. www.momsinprayer.org. Receive a short prayer every day for your child and school!!

Trinity Women and Friends of our Women

Every month the second Thursday evening  the second floor conference room of the Magnolia Ministry building becomes a  raucous  gathering .  There is a crazy, simple, mindless,  game called bunco that changes mild-mannered church ladies into a sisterhood of potluck gift sharing girls.  November 13 is the date.  6:30 p.m. is the time to eat.  7:00 is the time to play.  Contact  Deaconess Liz with questions: eborth@trinitydowntown.org or 407-488-1919 X 127.

Serving Behind the Scene

Each week, the communion table is set.  Every week, the silver gleams, the  wooden  hand rails are fingerprint free.  Who does this?  A quiet group of women spend  about 40 hours each month setting up the Lord’s table with the meal we partake of each worship service.  The Altar Guild is open to all women of the congregation who can wash dishes, set the table, and reverently honor our Lord without need for attention.  Contact Deaconess Liz or any Elder with your questions and offer to serve.  eborth@trinitydowntown.org or 407-488-1919 x 127.
