This Sunday, we are celebrating Trinity Sunday with a special single church service at 10:00 am in the sanctuary.  During worship, we will take few moments to thank many of our dedicated ministry team, and recognize each member of the school teaching staff that will not be returning to Trinity Lutheran School next year, including Mr. Ben Skelton, Mrs. Christie Leibner, Mr. John Torre, Ms. Jennifer Vaughn, Mrs. Laura Blank (who will continue working as a called called worker in the LiveUCF ministry) and Mrs. Melissa Bergholt.  We hope you can come and take part in this celebration and recognition.  

Following the worship service, please join us in the gym for brunch and a Special voters meeting to discuss future plans for Trinity Lutheran School.  Thanks!

As Chair of the 2014 Nominating Committee, I submit the listing above as the Committee’s recommendation to Trinity Congregation for Leadership Elections, posted as of May 23, 2014, in accordance with our Constitution & Bylaws.  Published postings are placed for public viewing in the Trinity Weekly (both email and printed), the bulletin board in the Loggia area adjacent to the Church Office, and also on the TLCS Website under the Member Resources menu.

Currently four Elder positions remain with no nominees. We will continue to petition the congregation through our nominating process for members qualified and able to serve in this capacity.

Members of the congregation are invited to submit nominations for the two Leadership Council Member at Large positions and the Elder positions to the undersigned at whitemice@bellsouth.net no later than Friday, June 6, 2014.  A final list of nominations will be published no later than Friday, June 13, 2014.

Next Regularly Scheduled Voters Meetings

Trinity’s next voters meeting will be held in the gym on Sunday, June 29th following the 11:00am Worship Service.  A light lunch will be served and a free will offering collected.  Agenda items include the 2014-2015 Budget, Elder elections and Leadership Council elections.  Please plan to attend.  (Additional 2014 voters meetings are scheduled for Monday, September 15 @ 7:00pm in the Sanctuary and Sunday, December 7 @ 12:30pm in the Sanctuary)

Food On The Fifth

It’s coming up  the weekend of June 28 and June 29.  Everytime the calendar shows a month with five Sundays, Trinity puts out a grocery cart for an intentional collection of non-perishable food items.  This collection is passed on to various agencies in Orlando that help families and individuals with nutritional needs.  This month’s collection will benefit the children of metropolitan Orlando who may miss a nutritional lunch meal because school is not in session.  Let’s fill the grocery basket Lake Eola Publix donated for our use three times!  Questions or comments?  Contact Deaconess Liz: 407-488-1919 X127 or eborth@trinitydowntown.org.

Sunday School News!

May 25 is the last regular session of Sunday School!  Please join us at the combined worship service June 1st, 10 a.m., to receive attendance awards and thank our teachers.

Summer Sundays for Kids!

Kids will be IN the pews this summer completing a "passport" page each week and seeing a "passport attendant" after service to receive his/her stamp.  There will also be opportunities as a family to earn extra stamps.  This program will begin on JUNE 8 and conclude on AUGUST 31.  Prizes will be awarded on Rally Sunday  -  prizes that include a visit to a prize bucket for goodies or movie tickets and some things in between!

Example of what a passport page may look like:  Filling in blanks of the Gospel lesson, answering a question such as "what did Joshua use to win the battle of Jericho?", draw a picture of what you see during Holy Communion.

There are two passport groups - ages 3-6 and 7-12.  We'd love to see your child participate!  If you would like to be a "passport attendant" -  even for 1 Sunday - please contact Jenn Blackwood mom23girls@cfl.rr.com  You would need to check the child's passport and stamp the page!  That's it and it would be very helpful. Please think about it.

We hope this is a good experience for your child...and family.  It provides the children with the opportunity to observe, listen, and take ownership in their worship experience.  There are also pages to fill out on vacation!!

Sunday Summer Stock!

Begins June 29, during the 9:30am Sunday School Hour for Grades 5 through 12, meeting in the 7th grade classroom of the school building.  “Making Parables Pop!”  Join us as we jump into the parables Jesus told and make them pop through interactive chapel drama.  Questions?  Contact Jamie Erpenbach  jamieerp@gmail.com

Camp Trinity  2014 Is Coming Soon!

TrinityDowntown.com/camp Camp Trinity’s summer session starts for our students on Thursday, June 5th  (to the public on June 9th)! Registration  forms are available in the front office and online. This summer will be the best yet – field trips, crafts, bowling, daily  devotions and so much more. Don’t miss out on a summer of fun – Camp Trinity style.

Fill Your Bottle and Take Another

There are more baby bottles in the Narthex display that need filling, and only 3 weeks left in the Mother’s Day to Father’s Day campaign.  When you fill a Redeeming Life baby bottle with change, or cash, or a check you are helping relieve the overwhelming emotional pressures of pregnant women in crisis.  This month, Redeeming Life Maternity Home shared a story that is worth passing along:  A woman had applied for residency, but because of the love she received throughout the application process and temporary residence time, she determined that making a commitment to her unborn child’s father and living as a family was the best decision for them all.  God’s love and mercy revealed to this young woman through Redeeming Life Maternity Home moved her to forgiveness and reconciliation.   Pick up a bottle from the Narthex and clear the change from your dresser, pockets, and car.  The collection continues through Father’s Day, June15.  Questions or comments?  Deaconess Liz: 407-488-1919 X 127 or eborth@trinitydowntown.org

Fabulous Retreat for Women

The weekend of September 26-28, 2014, the bi-annual LWML Florida-Georgia convention will be held in Jacksonville.  This is not too far away for us.  In less than 3 hours you can travel to the Wyndham Jacksonville Riverwalk hotel AND you will travel back in time because every room for the LWML is priced at the 2004 $99.00 rate.  If you remember, 2004 was the year of back-to-back hurricanes.  The LWML convention that year ended early because the power at the Wyndham was cut off, and there was flooding in some of the hotel areas.  LWML 2004 convention goers helped with evacuation of other hotel guests and showed such hearts of mercy and love that the Wyndham offered this year’s LWML convention  the discounted rate.  Ladies!  You can share a room with three friends at a 5-star hotel for $25 a night.  Unheard of in 2014!!  TIME IS RUNNING SHORT for you to take advantage of early bird registration.

How To Volunteer While Eating Dinner

You can eat, socialize, and show compassionate care for the people struggling financially and emotionally in Orlando.   The annual SOUPER DOUPER IDignity fundraising event offers  a meal with a purpose for helping the poor and needy obtain vital identification documents in order to work, rent, cash a check, or even obtain a library card.  The event is October 2, 2014 at the Ballroom on Church Street.  More details will follow, but contact Jennifer@idignity.org if you are interested in sponsoring a table, helping plan the event or simply making a generous donation.

TrinityDowntown.com/VBS   VBS 2014:  Monday, June 23 through Friday, June 27, 9am- Noon, “Weird Animals: Where Jesus’ Love is One-of-a-Kind” is the curriculum for Trinity’s Vacation Bible School 2014,  June 23-27,  9am to noon. Preschool  thru 5th grade! Last year we had close to 100 kids everyday hearing God’s word!  We are looking for volunteers:  Station Leaders,  registration coordinator,  PR coordinator,  Missions Coordinator and much more.  The curriculum is very simple and easy to use.  Stations Leaders are given a manual that outlines what to do each day.  If you are interested sign up online, or contact Tonya at  tackerman8@cfl.rr.com.

Supper & a Speaker Coming Soon

Youth News

High School Youth meet to help with VBS preparations

The High School Youth will be assembling and preparing materials for the upcoming VBS scheduled for Monday, June 23 through Friday, June 27.  We will meet during the Sunday High School Bible Class each week through June 22.

Gator Game Ticket Sales & Tailgate

Trinity Downtown Youth are taking orders now through the end of June for the following Gator Football Games at the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, FL:

Eastern Kentucky November 22

All group tickets are located in the upper sections of the endzones.  Tickets are $25 each.  Trinity will be meeting for a tailgate in Gainesville during one or more of the games.  Details will be available once the kick-off time is announced.
