Trinity Family
A Message from Pastor Z
This Sunday is Trinity Sunday. No, I don’t mean Trinity Lutheran Church Sunday, but rather, Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit Sunday.
Really friends, the Church Year is a grand and glorious teaching tool. It begins with the Season of Advent, takes us through Christmas, Epiphany, and then Lent with stark Good Friday bringing us to the terrible reality and power of sin. . At last Easter comes and we shout out our “Hallelujahs” and “Ta-Da’S” again – for Christ has risen! Indeed! Then we are swept into the mystery of The Holy Spirit who “blows” the Gospel into our hearts, who “blows” us with His rushing wind into the very heart of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit!
This weekend we will walk humbly into the very presence of the Holy Trinity. He will “name” us as His own, and our world will brighten! Looking forward to thinking these things through with you!
Stewardship Process Update
This is the final week in our Consecration Sunday Weekend stewardship process, and its climax. In our services this weekend we will have the opportunity to lay our commitments before our Lord as a part of our worship service. We pray for the presence of God in all our deliberations regarding our tithes and offerings. We please with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to stir our hearts in faith to rise up to the challenges that are ahead!
Jackie and I will bid you “Sayonara” for a time.
It has been such a privilege to be in ministry with all the Trinity Family since early January. I have gained so much from you. The Trinity family has become ours, as you have welcomed us so warmly into the family! Thank you so very much. We plan to be back in the area in the Fall, so the chances are very good that we will walk some paths together in the future!
We will stay in touch. And we will be fervently praying for the ministry at Trinity and all the people who support and love this magnificent manifestation of the Church of God! We love you. T and J Z
Pastor and Mrs. Jim Martin!
Pastor Jim and Carol Martin visited us this past week through Thursday. Many of you met the Martins while they were here, and you already know what a blessing they will be, and what blessings they bring to us at Trinity. Pastor Martin’s first preaching service will be June 28, 2015. Look forward to that event and give the Martins your generous support!
On June 7 and 21, Pastor Brath will conduct the services. On June 14, Pastor Glander will lead our worship!
The Gideons
Recently we were privileged to hear from the Gideons. Our speaker was Bill Ruffier, fellow member of Trinity. His message was great and highlighted the incredible ministry of The Gideons International. Thanks, Bill. Our congregation’s offering, taken at the door, was $853.00. Thanks everyone for helping! And thanks to you, brother Bill!
Buy a Brick…and be a part of Trinity’s history
For $50 you may purchase a brick that will be one of many that make up the foundation of our Trinity Courtyard to be completed with our new construction. You may have up to three lines of text engraved on your brick, 13 characters per line (including spaces, no punctuation). Proceeds will be used to fund the second CDC playground. To order your brick(s), please complete the order form in the Narthex and return to an usher, or to the main office.
Got Baby Food Jars?
Although Trinity’s summer Vacation Bible School in July is designed for children 4-11 years old, only families with the youngest children can help with an essential art project. VBS needs 100 empty, clean, small glass baby food jars with lids. Wait till you see how we recycle and transform used baby food jars! Please bring the jars to your classroom teacher. Deaconess Liz will collect daily and let you all know when we’ve reached our 100 goal. You can contact: eborth@trinitydowntown.org. or telephone: 407-488-1919 X127 for more information.
Work Day Volunteers Needed, this Saturday, May 30th
JJ Alexander and the Trinity Properties Ministry Team need help to complete final details on our three historical houses at the corner of Ruth and Amelia. Tasks for the day will include painting and light fabricating with wood to make a facade cover to the houses. The day begins at 8am with coffee and prayer, and work will continue until the job is complete. This is a necessary step in getting the certificate of occupancy for the new building and must be done. So, if you’re able to rearrange your calendar to be there, it would be a huge blessing and greatly appreciated. If you have any questions please contact JJ at jjalexa@gmail.com.
Volunteers for the Big Move June 13 (June 6 is cancelled, so we need more people than ever on June 13, and possibly June 20 as well)
Trinity asks that you “save the dates” of Saturday, June 6 and Saturday, June 13, from 8am to 4pm, for volunteering to help the Trinity Lutheran School CDC move into the new facility.
In particular, here are the tasks needing your help:
- moving small boxes of teaching resources to new classrooms (moderate lifting)
- cleaning the vacated classrooms (light cleaning)
- moving office furniture from the Orlando Sentinel Building to Trinity (heavy lifting)
- moving empty boxes from CDC to Church Basement Library (easy lifting)
- moving musical instruments from Church Basement to classroom (easy carrying)
- packing library books into boxes (light organizing one book at a time)
- moving Library Books from Basement to Classroom (heavy lifting with dolly)
Volunteers can sign up in the Church Narthex this weekend, or preferred online, beginning next week. We appreciate your continued support to make this move a great success!
Collection for Convention
Trinity’s representative to the LCMS Florida-Georgia District Convention is expected to bring donations from our congregation as part of an “ingathering” (a donation of items benefiting others) for Redeeming Life Maternity Home in Sanford. Please bring a “onesie” sized for newborn to twelve months, or diapers size 1,2, or 3 and place them in or near the blue basket in the narthex.
I Can’t Get Out to the Store
So many people are happy to donate cash rather than try and remember to purchase (or are unable to purchase) diapers for the LCMS convention gift. If this is you, consider donating a monetary gift to the LCMS Florida-Georgia District for the Redeeming Life Ministry in Sanford Florida. Trinity’s delegate will hand deliver this special offering to the June 12-14, 2015 Convention. Mark the memo line of your gift to Trinity: “Special Convention Offering”. Our gifts are an expression of His great love for us that empowers our love for others.

Mr. Richard and the Pound Hounds
Mr. Richard and the Pound Hounds have played at several Trinity events, most recently at Touch-A-Truck. We’ve recently learned that Mr. Richard’s wife, Danielle Peeples, is fighting for her life and they’re burdened with overwhelming medical bills. Richard is the premiere kiddie rocker in Central Florida and Danielle was a teacher, once named “Teacher of the Year” at a low-income elementary school. Three generations of Orlando area children have thrived on their love. A group of friends have dedicated an annual family rock concert to raising funds for the Peeples family. If you’d like to help out, please consider attending The Heart of Rock and Roll 2.0, Sunday, June 7, 2015, 2 p.m. at the The Orlando REP, featuring Mr. Richard and the Pound Hounds, Jiggleman, Mr. Harley. For tickets or to volunteer go to www.heartofrock.net.
Are You Free?
When you bring your baby to Trinity CDC July 20-24, do you have a couple of free hours to give back? Each day, or maybe a day or two, that week, Vacation Bible School needs adult helpers to keep children safe, and help them discover the world Jesus experienced when he was a child. You don’t need to prepare for each day, you only have one meeting to attend before hand (just so you know what to expect), and it’s only 3.5 hours of each day. If you are a teacher this is a perfect way to give service hours to your community and church family. If you have a little extra vacation time to share you will be amazed how enjoyable your mornings will be and you still have an afternoon free for beach, pool, or a nap. Please contact Deaconess Liz: eborth@trinitydown.org or 407-488-1919 X 127, or stop by her office in the Magnolia Building.
