Welcome Pastor and Mrs. Jim Martin!

The time has finally arrived that we have anticipated for over a month.  Pastor Jim Martin and his wife Carol have arrived in Florida!  Pastor Martin will serve as Trinity’s Interim Senior Pastor and assist as we prepare to call a permanent Senior Pastor to serve and lead Trinity.  The Martins join us from Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church in North Royalton, Ohio where they have served for many years.  He will be preaching at all four services this weekend and then begin his immersion into Trinity by joining us for the Voters Assembly meeting following the 11 AM worship service on June 28th.  Please take time to introduce yourselves to the Martins and help make their transition an easy one.

Voters Meeting

This Sunday, June 28th at 12:30 in the Sanctuary

Worship Schedule Change–The 4th of July is on a Saturday

Due to the events that go on Downtown on the 4th, we’ve moved the Saturday evening worship service from Saturday July 4, to Friday, July 3rd at 6pm.

CDC Moving Day Postponed

It looks like moving day will be the second or third week of July.  Please bear with us as we make our way through these final details on the construction project.  We’re nearly there.  Be sure to drive down Ruth Lance to get a look at the beautiful face of the new building.  Please keep our project leaders in your prayers and they work through the final details to get us to move-in day!  As soon as we know the date, we’ll let you know.  Thank you!

Invest with LCEF and Save Trinity money!

Please consider opening an LCEF savings account this weekend to help us reach the maximum mortgage rebate from LCEF who funds the mortgage for our new ministry building. The deadline for LCEF to receive the application and deposit is June 30.   Savings account investments start for as low as $25.  The more investors Trinity has with LCEF the higher the rebate check will be.  Trinity is eligible for a $60,000 check if we hit 336 investors.  Currently we have about 200.   You can apply online at LCEF.org.   For more information, please contact Bruce Hahn at 407-701-3234 or email bruce@mm-c.com.

Ministry Teams Meetings

Our next meeting of the Ministry Teams of Trinity will be Wednesday, July 1 at 7pm in the Sanctuary.  This will be followed by breaking into individual groups, and then gathering for a quick recap in the Fellowship Hall.  We’ll wrap up by 8:30pm.  Questions, please contact TLC@TrinityDowntown.com

Buy a Brick…and be a part of Trinity’s history

For $50 you may purchase a brick that will be one of many that make up the foundation of our Trinity Courtyard to be completed with our new construction.  You may have up to three lines of text engraved on your brick, 13 characters per line (including spaces, no punctuation).  Proceeds will be used to fund the second CDC playground.  To order your brick(s), please complete the order form in the Narthex and return to an usher, or to the main office.

Last weekend for Dollar War

VOTE NOW with dollars for the best hand-made paper cross on display in the Narthex.  The children in Mrs. Malenke’s school art class made and designed rice paper that they then adhered to wooden crosses.  Your monetary votes will award one creative child’s efforts, and the total collection will help purchase craft supplies for the Vacation Bible School.  We had a good start but are a long way from the goal of $200.00.

Landscaping

Our church landscaping, flower pots, and flower boxes need frequent watering during these hot summer months.   Any help with this weekly task is much appreciated.   Contact Omar or Gladys Dittmer at odittmer892@gmail.com

Thrivent Action Team

If you’re a Thrivent member, and have an idea for a fundraiser for church, school, or a community need, check out the new Thrivent Action Team!  You can receive $250 as seed money to start your project (fund raiser, service project, or educational event.)  Go to the Thrivent website, Thrivent.com with your Password and User ID.  You can do 2 projects a year (different recipients).   If you need help, contact Gladys 407-658-9815, odittmer892@gmail.com.   It’s a great start to any fundraiser!

VBS only 3 Weeks Away

On July 20-24 come just 2 blocks from Trinity campus where Broadway United Methodist Church is sharing their space for our joint VBS adventure.  You and your child can experience the life of Jesus through taste, sound, touch, and smells. There is no charge to attend, 9:00 to noon. This week is designed for 4 year old (entering Kindergarten) through 11 years old (entering 5th grade).  Registration for VBS is on-line: www.trinitydowntown.com. Click on the picture of the church bell tower, then on VBS Registration.   Paper registration forms are in the church narthex and school office.  Need more details?  Contact Deaconess Liz: eborth@trinitydowntown.org or 407-488-1919 X 127.

Time to Consider Giving Back

The annual summer Bible School program is only 3 weeks away.  Amazing how time flies, isn’t it?  If you had intended to volunteer for 4 hours each morning of July 20-24, then please don’t let another moment pass before doing so.  This is our annual outreach into the community with the love and message of God’s grace through Jesus Christ.  But, without adult volunteers to keep children safe and help them discover the world Jesus experienced when he was a child, Trinity cannot sponsor the event.  If you are a teacher this is a perfect way to give service hours to your community and church family.  If you have a little extra vacation time to share you will be amazed how enjoyable your mornings will be and you still have an afternoon free for beach, pool, or a nap. The training meeting is Tuesday, July 7 at 6:30 p.m. on the campus of Broadway Methodist Church (406 Amelia).  A morning session is also available for those who contact Deaconess Liz ahead of time.  To volunteer, please contact Deaconess Liz: eborth@trinitydown.org or 407-488-1919 X 127, or stop by her office in the Magnolia Building.

Beach Getaway

The LWML ladies are off to Sirata Beach Resort in St. Petersburg.  You are invited to be part of this great resort getaway September 25-27, 2015. Hurry!  Registration deadline is August 30, 2015.  This is a relaxed time of learning the secrets of the ladies in purple.  Keynote speaker is author and teacher, Donna Pyle. Her 2014 book, Quenched: Christ’s Living Water for a Thirsty Soul, is a finalist as Christian Retailing’s best women’s non-fiction book for 2015. The theme of the retreat is “Lord Here I Am”.  The beach is the perfect place to be reminded how Jesus erased your sins, just like the waves wash away the footprints in the sand. More information on the website: www.flgalwml.com.  Early registration is $125.00.  Hotel has special LWML rates: single rooms, double or king, are $119 for up to four people; studio rooms are $129 and one bedroom suites are $139 per night.

Elder Ambassador Program

This program enables local residents to become ambassadors for their communities by providing educational seminars to civic, faith and community groups.  Individuals with strong interpersonal, social skills and compassion for elders are encouraged to apply for this program. A maximum of 30 people will be selected.  Once accepted into the program, volunteer ambassadors will be required to complete a training program that will help them gain the knowledge to lead educational seminars and represent the community on the network of aging services. This training is scheduled for September 11, 15, 18, and 21 from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
