 Voters Meeting Summary

If you weren’t able to attend the voters meeting this past weekend, please take some time to read through the summary click here so that you can stay up to date on plans for the 2014-2015 year of “Growing Together” at Trinity Lutheran Church & School!

Change Accepted

The Lutheran Women in Mission (LWML) are happy to accept your mite boxes this month.  The intentional collecting date is October 12, but that box is probably filled with pennies, nickles, dimes, quarters and  the special purple $5.00 bills.  Did you know that purple is the LWML color?  How wonderful that our U.S. Mint thought about the LWML when the new design for the $5.00 bill was introduced.  Put your full box or cup into the collection box in the East Transcept of the church Narthex and exchange it for an empty one to fill for the LWML Sunday collection in October.  Talk to Martha Pfantz with any questions: 407-425-2947

Calling all Gator fans!!!

Trinity Downtown Youth is taking orders now through the end of June for the following Gator Football Games at the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, FL:

Idaho August 30

Eastern Michigan September 6

Eastern Kentucky November 22

All group tickets are located in the upper sections of the endzones.  Tickets are $25 each.

Trinity will be meeting for a tailgate in Gainesville during one or more of the games.  Details will be available once the kick-off time is announced. If you would like to purchase tickets, please contact Lori Zavitz at 407-718-6184 or lorizavitz@hotmail.com for more information.

Ladies Bunco Night

Ladies of Trinity, come get together with old friends, make new friends, at our monthly Bunco, July 10.  It is at 6:30 p.m. upstairs in the Magnolia Building.  We have a snack, sometimes bring a gift for a prize or something to donate to a worthwhile cause like BETA, etc., but we always have fun and fellowship, share lives, pray for each other, and just become friends.  If your birthday is on an even date, bring a white elephant gift for a prize; and if your birthday is an uneven date bring food or drink.  If you have any questions call Elizabeth Cohen at 408-833-3060.  Looking forward to sharing a great evening  together.

Volunteer Opportunities

Feed the Need

Feed the Need is a Servant Event and fundraiser.  We seek donations from family and friends to support it.  A percentage of the funds raised is used to purchase food that will be packaged by the TLS students and sent to missionaries in Haiti to distribute.   The other percentage of the funds raised then come back to Trinity as a fundraiser.  For us to successfully complete this Servant Event and fundraiser, we need a committee of about 6 people.  The committee will be trained and walked through the event by coordinators from the Champion Events Group.  The committee needed should  get started on this training in the next few weeks.  Attached are some videos from the organization so that you can learn more about the event.  I think it is a great opportunity for our students to assist others, share God’s love, and “Grow Together” in their faith.  If you are willing to help, please contact the school office at 407-488-1919.  Thank you!

Touch a Truck

One of our largest Trinity events, Touch a Truck, is only a few short months away.  This event has become very popular in our community and has continued to grow over the last few years.  We would like this to continue and need your help!   CDC parent Tess Tourelle has taken on the lead chair role for planning this event.  There are 3 other parents who have volunteered to serve on this committee as well.  However, 5 more parents are needed to assist with planning this event.  We have split the duties to make them very manageable for any volunteer.  Please take a look at the list below and email Tess if you are able to help at tesstourelle@aol.com.

  • Trucks Chair: responsibilities include contacting various companies and asking them to bring a truck, coordinating with drivers the day of
  • Marketing and Social Media Chair: responsibilities include advertising the event in our community and on social media
  • Sales and Entertainment Chair: responsibilities include finding vendors and additional entertainment for the event
  • Food Chair: Responsibilities include contacting a particular vendor to sell food the day of the event
  • Finance Chair: Responsibilities include tracking the event budget, making purchases, and helping with sales the day of the event

If you have any questions, you can also contact the School Office.  Thank you.

We’re Going to Jacksonville

The weekend of September 26-28, 2014, the LWML Florida-Georgia District Convention will be held in Jacksonville.  In less than 3 hours you can travel to the Wyndham Jacksonville Riverwalk hotel, and enjoy a weekend of relaxation in a top quality hotel will high end amenities for an incredibly low $99.00 per night room cost.  Jamie Erpenbach and Diann Grover will represent the Trinity women as Voting Delegates to this District Convention.  Susan Roby is our Alternate Delegate.  Since Jamie and Diann will be busy “working”, the rest of us come to the convention and enjoy Bible study, serving through mission projects, and staying up late laughing and eating snacks with no worries for voting.  Thanks ladies!
