Internet Safety Presentation for Parents, Wednesday, January 29th, 6:30 PM, Trinity’s Fellowship Hall All parents are invited to a special presentation here at Trinity Lutheran Church and School next Wednesday evening on the topic of keeping our children safe on the internet. Theresa regularly speaks to parent groups on this subject and will provide us with an excellent opportunity to become better equipped to help our children safely navigate on-line. Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT) Training
When disaster strikes, lives are turned upside down. Survivors often need food, clothing, shelter and spiritual care as they begin to cope with tragedy and loss. Responding to these hurting people is a vital part of who we are as members of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS). We show mercy and love to our communities because of the great grace and love that God has first shown to us. Join a Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT) training event near you to learn how congregations and even individual members like you can be better prepared to show Christ’s love to the community when a disaster strikes. Attendees will receive training in the following areas: Why volunteer, Volunteer safety, Legal issues and working with others, Chainsaw operations, General debris cleanup, Flood and hurricane cleanup, Roof tarp and patch. Attendees also will receive an LCMS Disaster Response credential that will give them credibility as they enter disaster zones in a coordinated and collaborative effort to assist those in need. The next LERT training event is: Jan. 25, 2014, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1515 S. Semoran Blvd., Orlando, FL 32807. For more information or to register, visit http://flgadistrict.org/2014-lert-training-announcement/.

Trinity’s IDignity Support Month Coming Soon
What does your identity mean to you? Are you able to prove who you are with photo albums, diaries, and official documents? What if you were born at home in 1950 and no one filed your birth officially? It happened to someone I know. IDignity events draw over 200 men, women, and children to the Orlando Union Rescue Mission each month. The services offered at every event are not limited to homeless men, women, and children, but to anyone who has limited access or ability to navigate the complicated system of government requirements. Each month a different founding church and other organizations sponsor the monthly event. It’s Trinity Lutheran Church & School’s turn to sponsor the February 2014 event. This means donating funds to help defray the $7000 monthly cost for helping over 200 people. This means volunteering to help if you have at least 4 hours to give on February 20. Contact Deaconess Liz for information (407-488-1919 X 127 or eborth@trinitydowntown.org) or contact IDignity directly: info@idignity.org
LWML Mite Boxes
Jesus observed a poor widow dropping 2 small coins into the Temple collection box. He knew the small gift would not make a significant impact in the world’s measure, but He could see the Widow’s heart. Your pennies, nickels, dimes may seem an insignificant amount of money to offer, but have no fear! The mighty mite is powerful.
Mite boxes are used to collect money for local and distant missions. Every year millions of dollars grow from the small coins you collect in your mite box. Put it on your dressing table, office desk, laundry room, kitchen counter, anywhere you find loose change sitting around. Put one in your car for the change you receive in the fast food drive through!
The large mite box in the east narthex of the church is hungry for your loose change - but will willingly accept checks and other

Walk to Cure Diabetes
My name is Jamie Erpenbach. I am a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and I have two children in the school. My oldest son Alexander is seventh grade and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2011. In T1D, a person's pancreas stops producing insulin, which is essential to the body’s ability to get energy from food. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and is unrelated to diet or lifestyle. Managing T1D requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on insulin. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure. Alexander must test his blood sugar four to five times a day and account for everything that he eats. He is now manually doing what his pancreas did before.
We're helping JDRF create a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D) where no one has to fear developing this serious autoimmune disease. March 8,2014 Alex and I will Walk to Cure Diabetes. You be part of the effort to improve the lives of millions of people affected by T1D. You can join our efforts by donating at walk.jdrf.org Orlando/UCG Walk Team Blue Thunder.
If you have any questions or want to support us any other way please feel free to email us fiveerps@gmail.com or stop us when you see us!
JDRF is the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. Every donation, big or small, from donors like you, allows JDRF to fund the critical research needed to find a cure.
