Construction update - Jan. 20

Construction is still on schedule for a completion in June and CDC opening in August. The intervening time allows for state approval and moving in furniture and set up. In the next two weeks, the 2-story orange house will be demolished and the soccer field area will be under construction, so parking there will no longer be available. The soccer field will be restored in April. All three Ruth Lane houses should be on their new foundations within two weeks. The second story of the new building is going up and work has begun on the front porches and facade. Repairs to the gym roof, flooring and repainting will take place in June; a work-around strategy has been prepared so Trinity summer camp can be held as planned. Remember you can check out the progress at http://www.livestream.com/trinityconstruction.

Everyone is invited to attend the banquet. Dinner tickets are $30.00 per person (to cover meal and costs). Make reservations and purchase tickets through Trinity Lutheran Church office no later than Sunday, February 8th. Moms in Prayer

Our campus is under construction. Dirt, concrete, hammering, cranes, and all kinds of activity indicate growth! Think about your construction. Are you being re-constructed daily by the Spirit? Are you actively participating in God's word and prayer?  Noah's story presents a picture of the work we have as intercessors for our children in prayer. Noah didn't have to figure out how to construct the ark because God said, "This is how you are to make it. . ." Your scripture prayers are like planks placed layer upon layer to build faith and Godliness into the lives of our children. You can follow Noah's wise example, act in faith, and work diligently to build prayer walls of salvation around our school and homes. Receive a short prayer every day for your child and school simply be visiting the following: www.momsinprayer.org

Nemours update

Things are getting exciting!  Trinity has decided to tackle three aspects of Nemours Healthy Habits program enhancement.  .

  1.  Provide healthier foods and reducing sugar.
  2.  Promote and educate families and staff on breastfeeding issues.
  3.  Family style dining

As you all know we have already upgraded our snack choices and now we will make a few other changes.  Our kitchen will no longer offer apple juice or chocolate milk as a beverage choice or dessert.  The extra monies will be spent on providing fresh fruits and vegetables on a regular basis and reducing added sugar in the menu.

Our first breastfeeding training will be Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 2 p.m. and again at 3 p.m. Alejandra DeMaio, she is a licensed Doula and Lactation Specialist.  She will address public policy issues regarding breastfeeding, how breast milk should be handled and stored, and end with questions and answers.  We are including our staff in this training as well so that your families overall experience in our infant program is strengthened.

Lastly, when we transition to the new building the children will be served and eat family style at lunch and snack times. This means teachers will sit at the table and engage in conversation with children as they serve themselves with age appropriate sized equipment.

Calling all TLS Alumni!

We are assembling a database of our school graduates. We want to keep our graduates informed about TLS today, help graduates keep in touch with each other, and improve our ability to share with the community great news about Trinity Lutheran School and its alumni. Please help us by giving us your name and contact information. If you have friends or relatives who are graduates, please share their information with us as well.

We have set up a secure email address to receive the data. Please send name (also maiden name, if applicable), address, graduation year, phone #, and email address to alumni@trinitydowntown.org<mailto:alumni@trinitydowntown.org> or fill out a card at the display in the church narthex.
