Trinity Church & School Families
Good Samaritan Award
The Lutheran Services of Florida honors volunteers throughout the central Florida area every year with a “Good Samaritan” award—to honor those who do the work of Christ, whose faith is both an extension beyond the normal activities of their life and an expression of their love of God through helping others! Trinity Lutheran Church & School recognizes Kathy Aber and the late Wren Aber. The banquet to recognize the Abers and all nominees and members from neighboring ELCA and LMCS churches will be on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 5:30pm at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1515 South Semoran Blvd. Tickets for the banquet are $30 per person and available only by paying in advance . Please contact our church office or Deaconess Liz by January 3 to get your tickets in ADVANCE! Thank you!
Sunday School Parents!! Last Two Rehearsals for any children wanting to be in the Christmas Eve 3:00 service! Saturday, Dec. 21 10 - 12 am Monday, Dec. 23 10 - 12 am
Did you know getting older has great advantage?
Perhaps the deals are true, perhaps they are internet legend, but check them out! If you have spent 55 years or more living, then you qualify for discounts! Publix says every Wednesday is a 15% off day, and Dunkin Donuts and Chick-Fil-A will give you a free small coffee. But, you have to ask. How different is the gift of life we receive from our Heavenly Father. We have it. We don’t have to be a certain age, or even ask for it. It is a gift. Still, while we live in this world, ask and you may receive a discounted or free product.

Serving our Neighbors
Trinity School Room Parents coordinated the gifts of food and special place settings for a Christmas Service Project. Trinity Church has provided a meal on the 24th day of every month to the Christian Service Center’s Fresh Start Program for over 20 years. This Christmas Eve, Trinity school has taken full responsibility for every aspect of a special holiday meal. Festive placemats and tableware, a delicious turkey or ham, cookies, side dishes, stockings stuffed with candy and nuts, and a special gift will show our Christ-centered love. Thank you to teachers, parents, and especially the room parents for such a valued gift of time and creativity. Want to know more about this great way to serve? Contact Deaconess Liz: eborth@trinitydowntown.org.
TLS Extra Curricular Activities
Beginning in January, all extra curricular activities (Soccer, Shots, Computer Tutor, Impact Dance, Drum Class and the Watch Me Sculpt class) will handle all of their own registration and payments. Parents will no longer pay through VANCO. Some vendors may still have registration forms that can be filled out and turned in to the office and some may do it all online. Please be sure to read the registration forms carefully. If you have any questions, please email Keri Packman at kpackman@trinitydowntown.com.

What happens when Trinity Shares Christmas
Because of your Angel Tree donations, gifts and food were delivered to 28 children and their families. Often the recipients are in financial stress and sincerely appreciate our generosity, but, the purpose of Trinity’s Angel Tree is to connect parents with children. Prison Fellowship Ministry uses the love of God shining through churches to give encouragement to children of incarcerated parents. We brought tears of relief to a grandmother who cannot spend time with her three grandchildren but can show them she loves and misses them. Remember Jesus’ parable: I was in prison and you came...whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me. Thank you to everyone who donated items and to the volunteers who were a part of the process – your support is greatly appreciated.
ATTENTION--USHERS NEEDED...
We still need ushers to serve at the 9pm & 11pm services on Christmas Eve and 10am service on Christmas Day. Please contact Brent Killinger if you are available bkkillinger@gmail.com or (407) 656-4202.
IDignity Ministry Moment: Who are you?
What does your identity mean to you? Are you able to prove who you are with photo albums, diaries, and official documents? What if you were born at home in 1950 and no one filed your birth officially? It happened. IDignity events draw over 200 men, women, and children to the Orlando Union Rescue Mission each month. Always, there is a case similar to the one above. How can that person prove birth in the United States now that mom, dad, and mid-wife are gone? IDignity offers legal assistance to solve such problems. IDignity recognizes that every human being deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, and also recognizes that a plastic photo card achieves that goal. Each month a different founding church and other organizations sponsor the monthly event. Trinity Lutheran Church & School will be the February 2014 sponsor. This means donating funds to help defray the $7000 cost to help over 200 people. This means volunteering to help during the month of February if you have 4 hours to give on February 20.
Contact Deaconess Liz for information or contact IDignity directly: info@idignity.org
