Community Outreach Event at Lake Eola
Community Outreach Events are a big part of Trinity reaching out into the community to serve and to witness: to build relationships, to be visible in the community, to be available for conversations, to be known as friendly people who care about our neighbors, to share invitations to visit, to extend our reach outside the boundaries of the Trinity campus and connect with people who wouldn't otherwise know us..... all to bring people one step closer to Jesus.

Thanks to all  who volunteered!
YOU were Trinity's Outreach Ambassadors at Lake Eola Friday night. What an amazing evening! Watch your email for a message which has information on a wrap-up meeting to review the event, share stories, and share input for next year!

A Great Success!
  • As we were setting up, one man stopped by and said "Hey Trinity people, YOU are all about THE COMMUNITY aren't you!?" and he thanked us for always coming out and setting up to connect with our neighbors (he has a great story, he was a homeless veteran for 14 years and now serves to help others. )
  • The TLS students put on a beautiful, and adorable, Christmas concert in front of the whole crowd downtown for the tree lighting!
  • The community response was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!  We had TLS kids singing on the amphitheater, and six tents on the green this year! We more than doubled the number of people we connected with and still had people at our tents when the rest of the event was shutting down.
  • We doubled the number of Trinity members, school parents, and staff wearing our Trinity Christmas shirts - so our name, logo and website were all over Lake Eola Friday night.
  • We have several commitments from new friends to visit us in worship
  • We have several people signed up for tours of the school ministries
  • And we heard some wonderful feedback from people who remembered us from previous years, recognized our red shirts and logo, and asked us to share more about Trinity.
Mark your calendars for next year,  FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6, 2019 , because we'll need three times as many volunteers to serve as Trinity Outreach Ambassadors for the expanded outreach activities we have planned for next year!

There IS a place for YOU to serve! Contact Trinity's Ministry & Communications Coordinator, Chanda Gillenwater, today at TLC@TrinityDowntown.com or 407-488-1919 x101 to communicate your interest in serving next year, ask questions, share what your gifts are, and how you might be able to contribute!  THANK YOU!

Trinity Voters' Assembly, Monday, Dec 10
Please join your Trinity Leaders on Monday evening December 10 at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary.

Church Reporting
This will be a time for reports and discussion on the State of the Parish, School Board reporting, Financial Health of the Parish, and Leadership Council Highlights.

School Board President Election
Please also consider the nomination of Bonnie Roby to serve in the role of President of the School Board. In late September, our elected School Board President, Bev Middleton, accepted the position as Acting K-8 Executive Director through the end of the school year.  Bonnie has led school board activities since that time and the Leadership Council would like to make it official through a vote of the congregation. Bonnie would serve through the duration of Bev's original appointment of June 30, 2019. Both Bev and Bonnie bring a wealth of experience and a passion and love for the Christian education that are provided at Trinity.

Nominations
As per our By-Laws, the congregation of Trinity may recommend qualified candidates to the President of the congregation for consideration. In the event that further nominations are received, the Leadership Council may select one or more nominees for consideration at the voter's assembly on December 10. Please affirm that any individual nominated is aware of and accepting of being nominated to serve as President of the School Board.

Please prayerfully consider both Bonnie and Bev's current roles in service to Trinity as well as our school and the families that we serve.  Look forward to seeing you on Monday December 10 at 6:30 pm.

Facebook Users - You Are Missionaries on Facebook
In the next few days multiple event posts representing our Advent, Longest Night, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve worship services are going up on Trinity's Facebook page, as well as some interactive posts that ask for you to share a comment. If you're on Facebook, please help us reach others by sharing those events on your own page, and by commenting on Trinity's page for the interactive posts. The more those events are shared, the more likely someone outside our Trinity family will see an invitation to worship and find their way one step closer to Jesus. The more interaction we get on interactive posts, the more Facebook recognizes our posts as something that should be shared more often. This really helps us to extend our reach beyond our own Trinity Family.  If you have questions, contact Trinity's Ministry & Communications Coordinator, Chanda Gillenwater, at TLC@TrinityDowntown.com or 407-488-1919 x101. Thank you.

Supporting Trinity Lutheran School and LWML
LWML  has a child's quilt 55" x 90" for a boy or girl. Top of quilt is a print featuring zoo animals and back and binder is solid hunter green. This is a tied quilt of all new material which will wash well and be lightweight but warm. Our group has decided to offer this quilt for bids from November 16, 2018 to December 14, 2018.  We start with a $35 bid and you can bid in $5 or more increments. The money obtained will be donated half to Trinity School Scholarships and half to LWML treasury. Call in bids and leave a message if there is no answer at 407-491-4452. Each week the newsletter will report the current bid and also the final bid and who won it.

LWML received a bid of $40 for the zoo print child's quilt 55" x 90".  A small boy or girl would love to snuggle under this. We welcome some competitive bidding. What a great Christmas gift. REMEMBER, bid before December 14, 2018.

The estimated cost per participant is $1,500. This includes airfare, hotel, and meal money. Our first big sale begins now! You won't want to miss this!  It's something EVERYONE uses, and the best news is, you don't have to stuff your freezer with tubs of cookie dough or choose from 50 varieties of wrapping paper! Be sure to find our youth set up outside church selling TRASH BAGS! Each roll is $13, either 15 gallon bags / 65 bags per roll (white) or 39 gallon bags /25 bags per roll (yellow). Please make checks payable to TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH (youth fundraiser on memo). Thank you for your support.

Christian Yoga!
You're welcome to join us on first and third Mondays (and if we have enough participants, we could add second and fourth Mondays too) for a $5 Christian Yoga class at 6:30pm in Fellowship Hall. The class needs a minimum number in attendance to be held at such a discounted rate, so please email Beth at baschu4@bellsouth.net to confirm you're coming. Class starts at 6:30 pm, please arrive by 6:20 pm. Thank you! Bring with you an exercise mat (and block if you have), $5, comfy clothes, a smile, and enthusiasm!

Please let us know!
Please let your Trinity family know of any scheduled surgery or hospital stay.  In addition to scheduled procedures, please give the church office a call to let us know about extended illness, unplanned hospital stays, or even the birth of a child. You can call the office at any time and leave a message-no need to wait until business hours (407-488-1919 x101). During business hours, that information can then be forwarded to the appropriate caregivers.  For an emergency that requires the care of a Pastor after hours or over the weekend call or text (text preferred) 407-490-7339 and leave a message. We'll get back to you ASAP. We want to be sure to know when you need us-whether to pray with you before a scheduled procedure, sit with you during a loved one's procedure, pray for you while you recover, visit you in the hospital/at home or to share praise and thanksgiving prayers for good news/results. Just let us know!

Urgent Prayer Requests
If you have an urgent prayer request that can't wait until you fill out a yellow prayer card during worship, please submit it via email to Pray@TrinityDowntown.com .  While submitting a yellow card during worship is still the preferred way to share prayer requests, sometimes a prayer need can't wait until Sunday.  Your prayer request (first name and basic details of the prayer requested) will be shared with a team of committed weekday prayer warriors and will also be added to Trinity's regular printed prayer list for the congregation.  All prayers are kept on the printed list for a period of three weeks, so please resubmit long term prayer needs regularly so that they stay on the printed list. Thank you.
