New Bible Study Series -- IMMERSE: Poets
Immerse: Poets is the fifth of six volumes in Immerse: The Bible Reading Experience. Poets presents the poetical books of the First Testament in two groupings, dividing the books between songbooks (Psalms, Lamentations, Song of Songs) and wisdom writings (Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Job). These writings all reflect the daily, down-to-earth faith of God’s people as they live out their covenant relationship with him in worship and wise living. You can participate in this study at Sunday morning Adult Sunday School, Saturday evenings before worship, Tuesday morning womens group, a Thursday evening womens group, or on your own. You can use the IMMERSE book, OR follow along in your own study Bible. There are audio recording available for free on the IMMERSE website, softcover books or ebooks. If you'd like to join a group, email TLC@TrinityDowntown.com for more information or visit church.trinitydowntown.com/word.

Grief Share – Grief Recovery Support Group
  • Discussion leader is Norma Smith, contact at normie1939@gmail.com
  • New session begins August 31
  • Tuesdays at 1pm, Loggia 3 Classroom, in-person, workbook needed
  • Each weekly session is a stand-alone session – so you can join at any time and at any pace!
GriefShare is for people grieving the death of a family member or friend. You’ve probably found there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel. This can be a confusing time when you feel isolated and have many questions about things you’ve never faced before. Grief Share support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and have been trained to facilitate this support group. Please share with others who may need to hear about this. These groups are open to all. To learn more visit https://www.griefshare.org/ . Questions? Contact Norma Smith at normie1939@gmail.com or contact Trinity’s Ministry & Communications Coordinator, Chanda, at 407-490-7339 or TLC@TrinityDowntown.com

Participants will gain access to valuable GriefShare resources to help you recover from your loss and look forward to rebuilding your life. It is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. GriefShare meets weekly for 13 weeks. Each GriefShare session has three distinct elements:
  • Video seminar with experts Each week your GriefShare group will watch a video seminar featuring top experts on grief and recovery subjects. These videos are produced in an interesting television magazine format featuring expert interviews, real-life case studies, dramatic reenactments, and on-location video.
  • Support group discussion with focus After viewing the video, you and the other group members will spend time as a support group, discussing what was presented in that week’s video seminar and what is going on in your lives.
  • Personal study and reflection During the week you will have the opportunity to use your workbook for further personal study of the grieving process and to help sort out your emotions through journaling. Your group will spend time discussing questions and comments from the workbook study.
Food & Funds collection on the Fifth Sunday of the Month
August has five Sundays, so on the fifth weekend, Aug 28-29, we'll be collecting canned and dry food donations (not expired) to be donated to a local food pantry, as well as funds to replenish the Pastoral Discretionary Fund which serves a number of things including assistance to those experiencing an immediate financial crisis. Please start collecting your food donations so you're ready for the end of the month! THANKS!
MUSIC MINISTRY UPDATE!
Parish Choir will begin weekly rehearsals on Wednesday, August 25, at 7:30 p.m. Please meet in the Church Balcony. Our first Sunday to sing will be Sunday, September 12, 11:15am service. Our plan is to sing every Sunday.

Bells will begin weekly rehearsals on Wednesday, September 8, at 6:30 p.m. Please meet in the Church Balcony. Our first Sunday to ring will be determined and we'll also determine frequency of ringing, as well.

Safety measures: We'll be sitting every other seat for choir. For bells, we'll try to space even more. If you'd like to wear a mask, please wear a mask. If you are not feeling well, please stay home. I know some have vaccinated, some have not. You have to do what you feel most comfortable with. But please think about your fellow Singalings and Ringalings. Thanks. Please keep praying for the obliteration of COVID and for safety for our congregation. I've been watching numbers and we're not out of the woods. To that extent, we'll ask that you participate in a way that is comfortable to you.

Sing-and-Ring-along?
We'll soon be recruiting for additional members!! If you might be interested, please get in touch with Music Minsiter Tom Naus, or with Music Volunteer Extraordinaire, Paul Soost.
Zip Lines
Connecting with your Trinity family outside of worship and church events is essential! We all need a line of connection to a smaller group of Christian friends with whom we can share our lives, grow in Christ, have some fun, and to encourage one another in personal outreach efforts in our own circles of influence. For that reason, we'd like to connect people living in the same or adjacent zip codes so that you've got multiple nearby church family members with whom to connect throughout the week!

Sign up via the link above, or visit the webpage at THIS LINK

If you'd like serve as your zip code's contact person, (sending emails, making a few phone calls...) please contact Chanda Gillenwater, Trinity's MInistry & Communication Coordinator. The goal is to connect every person at Trinity with their very own ZIP LINE where they can build those deep relationships.
Missional Living / Outreach - Share a Simple Invitation
Always feel free to copy the images in your Trinity Weekly and pass them along to someone with a personal note from you inviting them to visit. If you have a special opportunity and would like a printed copy to share, or multiple copies for a group of people, we'd be happy to make those available to you! Contact Chanda at chanda.gillenwater@trinitydowntown.com or 407-490-7339.
Middle School Youth Gathering
Registration is now open for the in-person Middle School Youth Gathering. It will be held at Lake Yale Conference Center from November 5-7, 2021. DCE Emilie Stooksbury will be the speaker! Peace Cares. Peace Shares.
Peace's groomer - All Creatures Pet Grooming - has started taking in pets that need to find new homes. Their generous and loving nature saves dogs and cats that otherwise might be put down. Peace wants to help them! Peace and team are collecting dog and cat food, treats and toys - any flavor, any brand - to help support their efforts. All Creatures Pet Grooming has been very generous to Peace, donating their time and services to provide free grooming every month. That's why Peace is so anxious to help them and give back.

Please bring any donations and leave it in the Narthex in Peace's box. If money is easier, you can give cash or check to Paul Soost, Peace's Top Dog. Checks should be made out to Trinity Lutheran Church with Peace Shares written on the memo line. Please bring all donations by Sunday, September 12. Please help Peace give back to All Creatures Pet Grooming as they find new homes for dogs and cats in need. Thank you!

That's why we like to have as many photos as possible from our Trinity family, in all aspects of the life of the Chruch.... so that we can post these in the Trinity Weekly, share on the Website, and use as Marketing material to show others what we're all about and reduce some of that "FIRST TIME GUEST" anxiety. Whether its photos of campus work days, of the choir sining via Zoom, kids in Fridat Comunion, Confirmation Essays, Confirmation classes, Trinity members in a meeting or Bible study group all spaced out with masks on, a group out in the community doing a service project with family and friends. ALL of them tell the story of what it's like to be part of the Trinity Family PLEASE, Send in your photos of Trinity Family moments! Send LOTS! Send to Chanda at TLC@TrinityDowntown.com.

Current Covid-19 Safety Procedures

The latest update from JULY 30 can be reviewed here: http://church.trinitydowntown.com/covid-19/
July 30, 2021: Update on Covid-19 Safety Procedures
Trinity's safety procedures will continue to evolve and adapt in consideration of local, state and federal updates and guidelines. Our current update takes into consideration the recent State of Emergency in Orange County, Florida. As of July 28, 2021, in Orange County, the 14-day rolling positivity rate for Covid-19 had increased to over 15%, on July 27 alone there were 1,371 positive tests, and certain providers have reported that up to 30% of the positive cases are of vaccinated persons. Further, based on Center for Disease Control guidance, the primary and most important mode of transmission for COVID-19 is through close contact from person-to-person.

Because of this significant increase in Covid-19 cases in our area, Trinity's Leadership encourages all in attendance at public worship, church meetings, and study groups to socially distance. When distancing is not possible, we encourage you to wear a mask.  This is especially relevant when individuals meet in close proximity to one another (ie: small group meetings in classrooms or offices).

Trinity's Child Development Center continues to REQUIRE mask-wearing at all times by all adults in the facility and continues to structure parent access to limit the number of people on site at one time - all to reduce the possibility of exposure and ensure our best possible opportunity of keeping classrooms open and fully staffed.

*Trinity will continue to offer both in-person and online worship, as well as at-the-rail and in-the-pew communion options.
*Disposable masks are available at both Sanctuary entrances for anyone who needs one.
