Servant Saturday for the WHOLE TRINITY FAMILY!
On Saturday, May 19th, from 9-11am (optional lunch together afterward) volunteers from throughout our Trinity family are invited to participate in a fantastic opportunity to reach out to our homeless neighbors AND to learn from some of our local ministry partners who serve to meet the needs of Orlando's homeless day in and day out!   We'll be serving with, and receiving training from, staff from the Central Florida Commission on Homelessness and the HOPE Team! THIS is an opportunity you don't want to miss!!

Our volunteers are engaged specifically as an extension of the Downtown Orlando H.O.P.E. Team (Homeless Outreach Partnership Effort), which is a group of full-time outreach staff who actively engage and serve our neighbors experiencing homelessness. You may have seen them in red shirts talking to people out in our area. The H.O.P.E. Team builds relationships with individuals and families so that they can direct those individuals to appropriate service providers. The goal of this initiative is to make homelessness rare, brief, and one-time.

On Saturday, May 19th the TRINITY FAMILY will help by providing a "surge" of people who can reach and connect with more of our homeless neighbors in a single day. Volunteers will receive training from staff at the Central Florida Commission on Homelessness and the H.O.P.E. Team, and be part of a group directly engaging with folks downtown experiencing homelessness.   You must be 18 or older to participate .  Youth who are interested in participating (and anyone who can't be out in the heat) will gather to assemble hygiene kits with toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, and personal notes in the office during this same time frame. The CFCOH provide refreshments for volunteers, and will gather everyone together after the experience briefly to share thoughts and insights.

SIGN UP NOW, as space is limited. Contact Chanda at TLC@TrinityDowntown.com or 407-488-1919 x101 with your name, email and cell phone number or sign up online at https://goo.gl/forms/TzrNgcEMi6HvLjm82 .  You may also receive a call or email from team members of the volunteer Outreach Ministry Team who will be helping to recruit participants.  If you've already registered, just let them know!

Handmade Quilt Auction - Fundraising for School/LWML
LWML Lutheran Women's Missionary League has received a gift from another LWML quilting group that has disbanded.  The top was sewn by a former 2nd grade teacher here at Trinity, Mrs. Kay Retzlaff. The quilt measures 73" x 89" and fits a full bed.  It is hand quilted out of new material and reverses to a chocolate brown with a medium weight polyester fill and fully washable. We will take silent bids for 4 weeks starting now and ending April 17, 2018.  Each week this newsletter will report the current bid, starting at $75 in increments of $5. Whatever final bid the quilt brings will be divided in half, and distributed in equal halves to support Trinity's K-8 scholarship fund, and half to the LWML treasury.  If you wish to bid, you can email MaryLou Evanchyk at mevanchy@att.net or call at 407/491-4452 and leave a message. THANK YOU!
UPDATE: The current bid now stands at $250.  It is worth so much more!  Let's raise more than that for our LSML and school scholarship support! The quilt can be seen and handled at the Magnolia Building by appointment.  Just call MaryLou Evanchyk to arrange a showing. THIS QUILT is HAND-PIECED AND HAND-QUILTED, very hard to find anywhere. Remember bidding ends April 17, 2018.

Sharing the Gospel with our VPK Families
78 VPK students will be graduating from Trinity Lutheran School's CDC at the end of May. It is a Trinity tradition for the congregation to purchase Beginning Bibles for all of these little ones as they graduate from VPK and move on to Kindergarten.  Some will stay at Trinity and some will move on to other schools and won't be a part of the Trinity community as they have been for so many years. Trinity's congregation members are dedicated to Christian education and congratulate these youngest students by presenting a Beginner's Bible at their VPK graduation. We want to bless each of them with our prayers and with the precious Word of God as they learn and grow.  If you'd like to participate in this Trinity tradition, please make a suggested donation of $15 or more with a note "VPK Bible" and put it in the offering plate or deliver to the church office. THANK YOU!

Food Donations
Trinity collects donated food to be given to local ministries on every fifth Sunday. We have five Sundays in April, so start collecting those BOGOs and great sales to bring in to church by Sunday, April 29th!

Urgent Prayer Requests
If you have an urgent prayer request that can't wait until you fill out a yellow prayer card during worship, please submit it via email to Pray@TrinityDowntown.com .  While submitting a yellow card during worship is still the preferred way to share prayer requests, sometimes a prayer need can't wait until Sunday.  Your prayer request (first name and basic details of the prayer requested) will be shared with a team of committed weekday prayer warriors and will also be added to Trinity's regular printed prayer list for the congregation.  All prayers are kept on the printed list for a period of three weeks, so please resubmit long term prayer needs regularly so that they stay on the printed list. Thank you.

School Book Fair
Trinity is hosting a Buy One, Get One FREE* Book Fair!   This special event offers a great opportunity for you to add twice as many books to your child's home and classroom library. For every item you buy, you get another item for FREE! It's that simple!  Our fair will be held on Thursday, April 12 th , 8am-6pm - Friday, April 13 th , 8am-5:30pm!  *All free items must be of equal or lesser value than the ones you buy.  The PTL is looking for Volunteers to help during our BOGO Book Fair event!   To sign up to volunteer, please click the link below.  We thank you in advance for your time and support! http://signup.com/go/FpzYqOb
