Candlelight Procession and “Redressing the Altar”

The Easter Vigil is a service held in Christian churches as the first official celebration of theResurrection of Jesus.  Historically, it is during this service that people arebaptized and that adultcatechumans are received into full communion with the Church. It is held in the hours of darkness between sunset on Holy Saturday and sunrise onEaster Day  — most commonly in the evening of Holy Saturday — and is the first celebration of Easter, days traditionally being considered to begin at sunset.  It is the first celebration of the Gloria, missing during the forty days of Lent, and marks  the first use of the "Alleluia"! The service begins with candlelight outside the darkened sanctuary where we reenact coming to the tomb in the early morning. The altar will be “redressed” in preparation for the Easter morning services of Holy Communion. The service continues with stories from the Bible which show repeatedly, God delivering His people, just as He has once again delivered us through another Good Friday into Easter morning.   Trinity will celebrate the Easter Vigil, 6:00 p.m. Saturday, April 19.

Bunco is so exciting!

There is a group of Trinity women who come and bring friends once a month to play a simple game, share delicious snacks, and laugh loudly.  If you’ve never played bunco, you don’t have to worry.  It is ridiculously easy to catch on, especially when there are so many loving people willing to help you enjoy a respite from worldly pressures.  Instead of sharing gift prizes with each other last week, PAWS for Peace received our generous donations.  Now we are publically announcing the winners of our friendly, skill free competition.  Most Buncos: Angie Friedel    Most Mini-Buncos: Liz Wise & Sara Friedel    High Score: Judy Webber     Low Score: Liz Borth

Next month the fun continues on Thursday, May 8 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the church conference room in the Magnolia Building.  Contact Elizabeth Cohen for more information: eawiese35@gmail.com

Preschool  thru 5th grade! Last year we had close to 100 kids everyday hearing God’s word!  We are looking for volunteers:  Station Leaders,  registration coordinator,  PR coordinator,  Missions Coordinator and much more.  The curriculum is very simple and easy to use.  Stations Leaders are given a manual that outlines what to do each day.  If you are interested Tonya Ackerman will be available after the 9:30 and 11am worship services this weekend, sign up online, or contact Tonya at  tackerman8@cfl.rr.com.

Last Chance to Paint

Despite the fact my grandfather’s paintings hang in St. Louis City Hall and my mother could capture the graceful movements of a dancer with her drawings, a 3-year old’s painted handprint is better than any canvas I have ever touched. But, I discovered with proper instruction and guidance, I can copy and be proud to display a beautiful painting.  Look for the purple invitations in the narthex for the quarterly “Supper & a Speaker” event on Thursday, April 24. Cost is $35.00 and reservations are necessary to insure everyone has a canvas.  To pre-register, go to www.wineandcanvas.com/private-events-calendar-orlando-fl.html before April 22, click on April 24th (Private Event for Trinity Women) and sign up!  Meet in Fellowship Hall at 6:00 p.m. (this is a ½ hour earlier than previous suppers) and bring heavy hors d’ourves for our feasting together. For more information call or email Deaconess Liz: 407-488-1919 X127 eborth@trinitydowntown.org.
