Beginning summer of 2014 and continuing all the way through to Advent, Trinity will be in the “Season of Saints.” Instead of following the standard lectionary during the Sundays after Pentecost, we will be assigning our own readings and themes based on your favorite Bible folks.
Its not often we have the chance to really dive into the historical figures in the Bible and learn directly from the story of their lives, so we, Pastor Moore & Pastor Billy, are dedicating an entire season of the church to these men and women.
You can be sure about a few things this season:
1. You will learn & re-learn what amazing and often ridiculous lives these folks lived.
2. God is faithful and patient.
3. The whole Bible points to Jesus Christ in one way or another.
4. It sure is nice to have the Bible to read and learn from!
Want to prepare or review? Great! Below is our Season of Saints calendar.
**One note! It’s a rule at Trinity that when one of the assigned Feast days occurs on a Sunday, we celebrate that feast day.
This puts our focus on a few saints out of order, like Peter & Paul. We think we can handle it though! Those will be fun to celebrate!
June 15th – Father Abraham
Father’s Day!
Genesis 12-25
God chooses to bless whomever He wants – that includes you through Jesus Christ!
June 22nd – Jacob
Genesis 25-35
God will use anyone He wants to do His work – even Jacob who really doesn’t seem to deserve it!
June 29th – St. Peter & St. Paul
Their assigned Feast day! Wear Red!
This odd couple is celebrated annually on this day because of what the Lord did through them in the early church. God used these unlikely evangelists despite their personal sins again Him – He forgave then and sent them – as He does to you .
St. Peter & St. Paul Bible Study
July 6th – Joseph
Wear your colorful coats!
Genesis 37-50
God makes good out of any situation, and in the story of Joseph’s life we see God make evil situations work for the good of His people. Ultimately forgiveness dominates this story, and know that no matter what you have done, God forgives!
