Recently Trinity Downtown had the awesome opportunity to host the Touring Choir from Concordia College New York. The choir gave a fantastic performance in the sanctuary, singing a variety of pieces in different styles. The concert started with the choir singing from the balcony, which was a very ethereal experience. (The choir used various places of our sanctuary, which made for a neat sound at times.) There was a congregational hymn, which we all sang out loud and proud! The choir ended the concert with some lively gospel style music, which got everyone moving!

Before the big event, the choir group was treated to a wonderful dinner prepared by Trinity members and served in Fellowship Hall. Thanks so much to Glenda Frazier, Deaconess Liz, and all of the dinner team that made the evening’s dinner great! The meal was very tasty, and the leftovers were much appreciated!  The choir even had a thank you song for the dinner team! That was so cool to hear!

Following the meal, choir & faculty members were shuttled off to host homes for evening hospitality and a good night’s rest. THANKS so much to all the families who welcomed guests into your homes overnight! You helped to make this a huge success too! We couldn’t have done it without you!

The following morning, the choir performed for the K-8 students in a morning assembly. It is cool to see the college students share their talents with our elementary and middle school students. Our TLS students were especially excited to hear the gospel pieces. Our TLS students even performed something for the Concordia Choir as well. Trinity’s music teacher, Mr. Tayon, noted that it was very rewarding for him to able to share the gifts of TLS students with others, especially those who share a passion for music.

Afterward, Jason Thoms, the Director of Choral Activities at Concordia New York sent a gracious thank you note to Trinity:

“Thank you so much for hosting the Concordia College-New York Tour and Chamber Choirs on their tour of Florida earlier this month.  We were blessed by the many families that opened their homes to our students, and for the many members of your congregation who attended the concert and gave to us at the offering.  …We hope that your congregation was uplifted by our choir’s visit, and we look forward to future opportunities to minister with you.  Thanks again for your support, and we hope that your Holy Week and Easter services bring you to a closer relationship with Christ.”
